Writing
We do have a fondness for new, experimental writing as well as thoughtful work in traditional modes. We strive to publish notable and interesting work. Our editors can be critical and acceptance can be subjective to a moments taste or even in regard to the next issue...
On Submitting
(By submitting it is expressed that you understand and agree to the following terms)
Copyright on all work is retained by original authors.
In order for us to be able to publish your work:
-We need your written permission allowing us one-time publishing rights, and permission to archive your work. [This means that you as copyright holder allow us to publish and archive your submitted work on this website. We do not hold any why vandalism? authors to any further agreement---it is your work, and we respect your right to pursue or enable any publication outside of why vandalism?]
Please include a statement of acknowledgment with your submission.
-Do not submit work that has been previously published elsewhere, we prefer new work.
-Make sure you have made corrections/edited your work to the best of your ability, before submitting.
-Send your work in a Word document or pasted in your email, along with your name, title of work, and, if desired, a short bio. In the subject line of email, please the specify type/category of work.
By submitting, you represent and warrant that the work is your own original work, where you are the copyright holder, and the material does not and will not infringe on any third party's copyright, patent, trademark, trade secrets, proprietary rights of publicity or privacy, or other legal rights. You agree not to hold Why Vandalism? liable for any damages. WV? is a free journal promoting the Arts, thus does not pay for contributions nor will accept payment for acceptance of any work into the journal.
What's Next?
We will review your submission. If your work is accepted for the next issue, we should most likely contact you back before the next issue is published. Sometimes, errors or lost emails containing submissions do occur---feel free to contact us again if you do not hear from us and are concerned. If you have submitted your piece elsewhere and it has been accepted, please notify us immediately. If you do not hear back from us by the time the next month's issue is published online, the work probably has not been accepted most likely due to the opinion that our editors felt that the work was just not meant for the issue being compiled or better placed elsewhere. Just because we did not accept for the issue, does not mean that it is not good work, please keep this in mind. Please feel welcome to submit new work for future issues.
Our editors may contact writers back requesting changes, or make format/size adjustments of artwork before a work's acceptance and/or publishing.
